My Family! This week has been a hard week for me. It is that time of the semester when I have not seen my family since I moved back, and it is starting to hit me how much I miss them. I am very close with my family, so being seven hours away from most of them can be really difficult. My parents were extremely supportive of me going to school wherever I felt led to, even if it meant moving far away from home. My parents are truly my biggest supporters, especially my dad, who I am extremely close with. Ever since I was young, I've been a daddy's girl. Everyone told me I was the girl version of my dad and oldest brother. That was never an insult to me because I admire my dad and would be honored to be like him.  My Older Brothers! This past weekend was sorority recruitment for the four Panhellenic sororities on campus! It was very bittersweet to think this was the last time I would be recruiting for Kappa Alpha Theta as an active member. Recruitment season is extremely busy and tiring, but it is always so worth it when we get to see our new members run home to us! Thursday was by far the longest day of recruitment weekend. My day starts with class at 9:30 a.m. and then I am not done with classes until 5:45 p.m., besides my hour lunch break. We were told to be in the Theta house by 4:30 p.m.; however, I had class during that time and was unable to get there until 6 p.m. when the first round was beginning. I only had to talk to a few girls throughout the rounds, so it was nice to get a little break and to be able to work on homework in the back until we were done at 9 p.m. Although it was an extremely long day, it was very rewarding because we finally received the Holiday Spectacular cast list! This weekend was a special one because we had Monday off for Labor Day and I got to spend some extra time with my friends! I had experienced a pretty exhausting week prior, so it felt very nice knowing that we were going to have a long weekend to relax. Although I was a little sad that I could not go home like many of my friends were able to do. I love being an ONU student and know it was the perfect choice for me, however it has never gotten easier being eight hours from home. On weekends like this it is hard watching people get to go home and see their families when I am not able to do so.  Because of that, those of us that were staying on campus tried to make some fun plans to stay busy! After classes on Friday, my roommates and I took the time to clean up our house so that we would not have to do so over the weekend. All ready for auditions and callbacks! Last week we had auditions for the annual Holiday Spectacular at ONU! As Musical Theater majors, we are required to audition for every show so this was my fourth and final audition for Holiday! It is extremely bittersweet and I find myself getting sentimental about every 'last' I come across, even though it is the beginning of my senior year. My freshman year I did not get cast, which is pretty normal for freshman. Instead, I chose to be a Youth Performance Supervisor, which we call YPS for short. I was able to take care of the kids cast and help them learn the show. Doing this allowed me to still get to be a part of Holiday my first year and get to know the show and the other students outside of my class more. My sophomore year I did not get cast again which was definitely a letdown. I chose to sit that year out and not help backstage and instead get more involved in other ways on campus.
