Essentials of Social Media Marketing

Image
As I wrap up the final assignment for my social media class, I wanted to take some time and reflect on our textbook for this course. We used "Essentials of Social Media Marketing" by Michelle Charello as our guidance throughout this class. I personally really enjoyed this textbook! I know some people had mixed feelings about it, but overall I think it was very helpful. It was incredibly easy to access since it was an online textbook. I hate carrying around heavy books in my bag, so I love it when things are online. With the purchase of this book we also got access to the simternship that was one of our major assignments for this class. Stukent provided us with great resources to aid our learning.  All the chapters followed a similar setup. I liked the routine of this. It helped me understand exactly what I needed to know by laying it out clearly. At the end of each chapter it also provided a practice quiz which I utilized for the two main exams we took in this class. The text...

Social Media Workshop ‘24

Image
The 2024 Social Media Workshop has officially wrapped up! It was an amazing experience and I am so grateful I was able to attend. I learned a lot of intriguing things about what it’s like to run a social media platform for a business, or even for personal gain. There were four different sessions and a keynote speaker, so no one left having learned nothing! In each session there were two speakers to choose from. The speakers in attendance were Amy Hertsenberg, Sally Stearns, Meghann Winters-Rowe, Dillan Kanya, Dayton Barnett, Colin Wylie, Mallory Grayson, Joe Dunay and Brandon Daniels.  Throughout this blog post, I will give a brief overview of what each speaker spoke on. One assignment for my Principles of Social Media class was to live Tweet throughout the duration of one session. I will go into more detail about that specific session I chose to Tweet about later on in this post. After we registered in the morning we were able to hear from the keynote speaker, Amy Hertsenberg! She...

Keeping Up With Kayleigh: A Podcast!

Image
I have always enjoyed listening to podcasts while doing various activities. I am the type of person that cannot do anything in silence so it is important to always have something playing in the background. I never thought of creating my own podcast but this class has brought me out of my comfort zone and I finally was able to create one of my own! I was challenged when thinking of who to interview for this podcast and it took me several days to think of. Then I finally remembered I have a family member who has been in the marketing industry for years! My brother, Justin Jarkowsky, is the Recruiting Success Manager & Marketing Department Team Lead for the company Yellowstone Local. Before this he worked for several other companies before stepping into this leadership role.  Making this podcast was so much easier than I thought it would be. In my head I thought you needed all the expensive recording equipment and a fancy set-up to record a podcast, but when I really took the...
