How to Create & Optimize an Instagram Business Profile

Image
Last week we discussed how to create a Facebook business page so I decided that this week I would walk you through how to create an Instagram business page as well! Although they are similar, personal Instagram accounts are different than business accounts. When you turn an account into a business profile it automatically gives the account extra features so that each business can optimize their pages. These features include adding locations, business hours, contact information and more. It is important to utilize all that is given to you when setting up these accounts so that you can engage with your community of followers.  Step #1: Choose a username that is not too confusing and represents your company well. If you have a longer business name consider shortening it for a username and be sure that this username is the same as all your other social media platforms.  Step #2: Choose a profile picture that represents your business and its values. This could be a company logo, a picture

A Week in the Life

Image
Some people like to live a chill life where they do their work or school during the day but then come home and relax in the evenings. However, I am not one of those people. I love to constantly be busy and be surrounded by friends. I go crazy when I have nothing to do or when I am stuck in one place for long periods. Life here at Ohio Northern sure does keep me busy and for that I am very thankful.  I love watching TikTok videos of what people do in their days or perhaps throughout their week, so I decided to dedicate this blog post to tell you all about what I did throughout this week. My week started off bright and early on Sunday morning when my sorority fam picked me up to go to church. Most of us typically go to different churches but we haven't had much time to hang out lately so we deci ded to take the morning and go to church together. After church we got Panera for lunch and it was so wonderful getting to spend time with them. It's at these moments that I realize how l

Mama's Mac 'n Cheese

Image
As a college student, sometimes there is nothing I want more than a warm and home-cooked meal. I especially want a meal prepared by my mom. No comfort compares to sitting in your home eating a delicious meal surrounded by family. What I would give to be able to just go home and have a meal prepared by my mom!  I was very fortunate to be blessed with a mom who is an excellent cook. Growing up, I remember every day my mom would get home from work and immediately begin preparing dinner for our family. My mom comes from a long line of incredible cooks, so she has many wonderful recipes that she gets to bless our family with. One of my personal favorites is her crockpot mac 'n cheese. That was always what I requested for my birthday meals and I always told my friends that they had never had good mac 'n cheese until they tried my mama's mac 'n cheese. This quickly became the meal that all my friends requested when they came over to my house and was my mom's famous recipe.

Valentine's Day!

Image
Valentine's Day is a day full of love, flowers, cards and joy for most people. For some others it is a day full of sadness, defeat, hopelessness and loneliness. So many people see Valentine's Day as a holiday only for people in happy relationships. The truth is that Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate love, whether that be platonic or romantic love.  I myself have found it hard to find the joys on Valentine's Day as a single woman. For many people it is hard to find the joys in a season of singleness and I understand that. This year I promised myself that no matter what, I would look around and see all the platonic love that surrounds me. Growing up I always woke up on Valentine's Morning to flowers, chocolates and a card from my Dad on the dining room table. I am so blessed with a Dad who shows me love not only on Valentine's Day but also every other day of the year. I have been a little sad thinking about how this will be my first Valentine's Day away fr

My Perfect Family

When I first came to ONU, I had never felt so lonely in my life. I knew that coming to a school 8 hours away from home wouldn't be easy, but I did not expect it to be this hard. I am a homebody at heart but I also am an independent person so I thought that I would adjust easily to college life but it was quite the opposite. Bid Day! Since I grew up in a large family it was quite the culture shock moving away from them and living in a quiet dorm when I am used to always being surrounded by family and noise. I had never met my roommate prior to moving in and she is on the volleyball team so was hardly ever home. Because of that we didn't get to know each other until several weeks into school. I am in a small major, so outside of that I didn't know many people. My fam! I felt as though I was missing something. A part of me was left at home and I felt like I would never be truly happy here. There were a few people on campus that knew I was struggling with this feeling of loneli

Keeping Up With Kayleigh: A Podcast!

Image
I have always enjoyed listening to podcasts while doing various activities. I am the type of person that cannot do anything in silence so it is important to always have something playing in the background. I never thought of creating my own podcast but this class has brought me out of my comfort zone and I finally was able to create one of my own! I was challenged when thinking of who to interview for this podcast and it took me several days to think of. Then I finally remembered I have a family member who has been in the marketing industry for years! My brother, Justin Jarkowsky, is the Recruiting Success Manager & Marketing Department Team Lead for the company Yellowstone Local. Before this he worked for several other companies before stepping into this leadership role.  Making this podcast was so much easier than I thought it would be. In my head I thought you needed all the expensive recording equipment and a fancy set-up to record a podcast, but when I really took the time to

College Mishaps

You know that old saying, "When it rains, it pours"? Well that is what my week has felt like. One thing going wrong after the other. All while trying to keep up with homework and a social life here on campus. I can't say that I am not thankful to be at ONU but I know I would much rather be at home right now.    My week started out pretty good. My 9am class on Monday was cancelled so I got to sleep in a little bit which was very nice. However, I woke up feeling sick but knew I shouldn't skip any classes on the second week back. So I powered through.  On Tuesday I was feeling okay enough to get up and go about my day. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I do not have class until 12pm, so I like to get up early and try to get some work done and go to lunch with friends before classes. Due to a medication I am on, I tend to get emotional at the most random times and cannot control it. As I was trying to get work done I was listening to songs and I don't know what came over me b
